Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your account. After entering your password, you'll be prompted for a one-time code from your authenticator app.

Setting up 2FA

  1. Go to Account Settings → Security.
  2. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.).
  4. Enter the 6-digit code shown in your app to confirm setup.
  5. Save your recovery codes somewhere safe — these let you regain access if you lose your authenticator device.

Once enabled, every sign-in requires both your password and a code from your authenticator app.

Recovery codes

During setup, Vessl generates a set of one-time recovery codes. Each code can only be used once. Keep them in a safe place (password manager, printed copy, etc.).

If you lose access to your authenticator app and have no recovery codes, contact support at [email protected] to request account recovery.

You can regenerate recovery codes at any time from Account Settings → Security → Regenerate Recovery Codes. Regenerating invalidates all previous codes.

Disabling 2FA

  1. Go to Account Settings → Security.
  2. Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Enter your current password to confirm.

2FA is disabled immediately. You can re-enable it at any time.
